About Walker's Milling

Our Passion-  Walker's Milling, LLC was created out of a passion for all things trees. Trees provide many uses throughout their lifetime, from shelter for a nesting squirrel and food for a hungry deer to oxygen for us all, just to name a few. I feel privileged to continue telling the story of a tired tree by giving it new life as usable lumber for years to come.

I am an avid outdoorsman with an appreciation for God's great creation. Whether climbing into a tree stand during archery season or processing a tree into usable lumber to feed my woodworking hobby, I can see the beauty in each tree and each stage of its life.

Our Vision- To provide customer driven sawmill services at an affordable price.

We can’t saw a saw a 6x6 out of a 4x4, but we can provide you with a high level of customer service by answering your milling or wood related questions and walking through each step and what to expect from the milling experience.

We realize not everyone has had their own log turned into lumber but we are here to guide you through the process and answer as best as we can your questions and address any concerns you may have.  This should be a fun and rewarding process for YOU.  We would not be in business if it were not for you, so it is our goal to provide a high level of customer satisfaction and have you driving away with a truck full of lumber and a smile while thinking of the endless possibilities of what to build with it.

Our History
I graduated from Penn State with a degree in Wildlife and Fisheries Science. During this time, I really enjoyed my dendrology (fancy word for tree) classes. I learned about tree identification and growing characteristics. After college I became interested in woodworking as a hobby. Being a poor college grad, I could not afford the lumber that my projects necessitated.  However, I had access to many trees from my parents' woodlot. My dad and I decided to make a sawmill from salvage parts found at a local scrap yard. Through a lot of trial and error, we made a stationary bandsaw mill that could process logs that would otherwise be destined for the firewood pile. I found that I enjoyed the process of milling my own lumber just as much as creating a new project! What started as a homemade machine to meet my own woodworking needs has grown into custom sawmill service. My goal is to enable others to have a hand in the process of turning their logs into valuable lumber too.

Surely he cuts cedars for himself, and takes a cypress or an oak and raises it for himself among the trees of the forest. He plants a fir, and the rain makes it grow. Isaiah 44:14
